Animal Books -- Stories, Activities & More!

Disclosure: I was sent these books in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Hazel has always loved animal books and stories. I know a friend who says her five-year-old boy could care less about truck books, but a book with animals he loves. Do you have an animal lover in your life? Today we are sharing some fun books that include stories, activities and more. Several even take you on a trip around the world. Ready to join us?

Our first book is A World Full of Animal Stories by Angela McAllister and illustrated by Aitch. This beautiful book is divided up into continents. There are stories from Africa, Asia, North America, South America, Europe, Australia and Oceania. For each continent there are stories from different countries and cultures. It is a wonderful book full of different fun animal stories. This is a collection any animal lover would want.
From Buffalo and Eagle Wing a Blackfoot Story

I love how the stories tell about the animal and the culture. It is animal fables from around the world all in one book and it is done so beautifully. The illustrations are colorful and fun and the book itself is filled with illustrations and fun.

As we speak about animals from around the world, let's talk about the number of living things on earth. Our next book does just that. It is Many: The Diversity of Life on Earth by Nicola Davies and illustrated by Emily Sutton. This book takes the reader to different environments and looks at the life there--both animal and plants. It looks at the small things like microbes to big things like elephants and oak trees. Throughout the book there are little asides about the things discussed in the book like there are two kinds of elephants and more than six hundred kinds of oak trees. The illustrations are beautiful and this book is perfect for the young child. It is recommended for kindergarten through third grade.

This book is perfect for the child who wants to explore the world and learn about new places and things. It demonstrates how beautiful and diverse our world is.

Speaking of exploring the world, our next book is for just that. It is We're Going on a Bear Hunt: An Adventure Field Guide.  It is a companion to the wonderful picture book, We're Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen. This amazing field guide shares everything one might see on a trip outside. Whether it is the sun, the weather, the rocks or woods and of course the animals and plants. It has pictures and explanations on how things work or are like. It even has activities and recipes in it. It is the perfect companion to a nature walk or just to explore one's back yard.

This field guide is recommended for preschool through second grade. It is perfect for a family and especially for a homeschool classroom. Then to go with it is our next book, We're Going on A Bear Hunt: My Explorer's Journal

This book goes hand in hand with the field guide. It is a place to record things like how much rain has fallen, the weather, rocks, and things you see. It also has activities to along with collecting and exploring. There are pages filled with ideas for kids to explore the world and record it. It has them drawing and writing and even measuring.

I could definitely see a little nature lover loving this book!! I love that it gets kids exploring nature and outdoors. Something I think is lacking a bit in most kids' lives.

Our next book is Home Sweet Home by Mia Cassany and illustrated by Paula Blumen. This book shares homes from around the world in the eyes of pets. Travel the world and check out how dogs, cats, tortoises and more live. It shares a bit about the culture of different countries and ways of life as well as about different types of pets. It is really fun and sweet book.

I love how the book gives glimpses of homes and different parts of the world as well as different animals as pets. The description given by the pet also adds a bit of culture to the book. This is such a cute take on learning about different cultures and places in the world. The suggested grades for this book is kindergarten to third grade.

Our next book is a coloring book companion to the Animalium series of books. (We reviewed the poster companion book previously.) It is the Animalium Coloring Book curated by Katie Scott. This book has 47 pages to color with information about the animals on the page. It visits different habitats and gives various types of animals.

The coloring has small details and makes it fun for older kids. The book is recommended for grades 2 through 4. It is perfect for those animal lovers to relax and learn a bit more about some animals.

Our final book is Paper Birds by Ruby Taylor and Kate Smith. This book has ten projects with different birds including penguins, parrots, bluebirds, hummingbirds, flamingos and more. The projects include scenery and props and there is information about each bird and their habitat. This video will do the book more justice than my trying to truly describe it.

Talk about some fun projects for animal lovers!! This book has a great variety of birds and fun play. It is recommended for grades 3 to 6.

I hope you will check out these great animal themed books!! They are perfect for those animal lovers out there!
